Paphos cats
Those who know me are well aware by now of my love for our feline friends. I cannot walk by a cat without attempting to say hello. I never tire of meeting new cats and it always makes my day when they happily come and spend a little time with me.
The first time I visited Cyprus I had no idea about the situation with stray cats. On my first night I encountered a very handsome boy on the hotel veranda and was overjoyed. The next day I couldn't believe how many cats I met on my travels. While there were some obvious cases of cats in dire need, many were being looked after by local hotels, businesses and of course switten visitors like myself.
It was a very special trip to Paphos anyway because I was there to get married. It was also the first holiday abroad in many years so it was a long-awaited adventure and break from the normal struggles of life. To be welcomed by so many friendly mogs everywhere we went was the cherry on top of the icing on top of a very big cake.
Since our first visit we have been back twice and it's the one place where we truly feel like we're on holiday. Paphos is so laid back and you can't help but relax, especially when there's a cat around every corner wanting a little bit of extra attention.
If you loved meeting some of my Cyprus cat friends, please share and don't forget to take a look at my post on the stray cats of Thailand.
